Well built! -but I'm missing conditional logic and email integrationWell built plugin by YITH! -but I'm missing conditional logic and email integration. In other words
being able to show cart messages based on a much wider range of parameters ie. if there's a product in the cart of a certain shipping class and if there are two products in the cart of different shipping classes. Also it would be great if it was possible to add a cart message to the e-mail as a reminder to the customer :-)

Yes to do it you must use the Products in cart message type and select the products that will trigger the message. You can also specify a minimum product quantity that must be added to the cart to start showing the message.
No there is no limit. You can create how many messages you want.
Yes you can use the Minimum amount message type that allows showing the message when the cart reaches the threshold you have specified in the Threshold amount entry.
